One might think that it being August and all we’d have swimming suits for our kids by now. Well, we do as of yesterday. It had been so cool this summer that going to the pool wasn’t really necessary and on the warmer days we put them in swimmers and turned the sprinkler on in the backyard. Last weekend though we got a gym membership at a facility that has three pools that we needed to take advantage of as a family. One of the pools is for lap swims, another for swim & water classes & general fun and then a baby pool). We spent yesterday purchasing suits for both of the kids. We found a cute one for Jack at the first store and an adorable one for Anna at the third store, not too bad of luck if you ask me, especially since the second store was Toys R Us and we were actually there for toys. Best thing is that the suits were both half price due to end of season sales!
Around 4:30 pm the four of us got into the baby pool. Anna was a bit reluctant at first but became comfortable enough in her surroundings to request going to the big pool. Damion took her and she floated on several noodles and played with the kick board. She returned to the baby pool to play some more and work on her kicking skills. Anna has some powerful legs that create a lot of splash, which made Jack laugh of course. The second time in the big pool I was with her and she wanted to show off how she could use the board and the ladder. Jack had no reservations after the first placement of him in the baby pool. He wanted to run in the water and run on the deck and step/jump into the pool. Even after several mouths full of water he still kept ignoring the “sit Jack” demands and stepped in. He too ventured into the big pool. The first time I had him and he just wanted me to let him go on his own. I sort of wanted to in an effort to see if he could magically swim, but instead we left and went back to the baby pool. The second time Damion took him and Damion got Jack to float with assistance.
After over an hour in the pools the kids looked exhausted and Damion & I were tired. I wasn’t prepared with how exhausting it could be to play with the kids in water all while making sure they don’t crack their heads open while running on the deck or in the pool. Needless to say they ate all their dinner and there were no fights when it came time for bed. Only registered users can write comments. Please login or register. Powered by AkoComment 2.0! |
