Before I get started, Congratulations to TJ and Keri on the birth of their second child, Lily, who was born yesterday. After watching Connor for a week I’m sure he’ll be a great older brother.
I’m sure you’ve heard people say they are having a bad week, well let me just say that if Jack could speak full thoughts he would be saying that he is having the worst week of his life.
Saturday we visited Adam and Nicole to check out the progress on siding their shed. While there, we met their foster dog, Trixster, a beagle. Trixster came up to Jack and greeted him with a lick to the face. I didn’t react but to stop him because Jack hasn’t broken out when licked by the neighbors’ dog so we thought he might be getting some type of immunity to them. When I looked at Jack closer while putting him in the carseat I told Damion we needed to get home “NOW”. This was the first time Damion had seen a reaction and he didn’t hesitate at all to get home. On the way home I kept making Jack laugh so he would stop rubbing his eyes, which were starting to swell shut (He got licked across his nose, checks, forehead area). We gave him allergy meds as soon as we got home and tossed him in the shower. After washing his face 4 times this is how he looked.
.jpg) About two hours later he looked a lot better. Here’s my PSA for today – If you ever see Jack’s face look like this please give him the allergy medication in his diaper bag and wash his face and hands several times with warm soapy water.
Sunday was Father’s Day. Happy Belated Father’s Day to all you out there. We didn’t really do anything to special. However Damion did take a couple of hours and went around town to take pictures for work. Directions to one of the buildings? “Go down this road, drive past the no trespassing sign and barriers. Just ignore them.” Can you hear my eyes rolling to this statement? By the way, he didn’t stay there long because he got chased out by several dogs. Wednesday was playgroup at Heather’s house. Jack kept testing his boundaries around the playset and then it happened. He got to close to a little girl swinging and got knocked over into a horizontal 2x4 support for the play set. After ditching the flip flops I got to him before the little girl completed her swing back towards him. Instant bruise to the temple area. Heather reacted quick too and got ice and ibuprofen for him. Jack actually let me hold the ice to his head for a couple of minutes. Today his head doesn’t look bad. .jpg)
But that would not be the end of Jack’s Wednesday. After dinner and errands, we took the kids to our backyard to play for a bit before bed time. Damion was in the house looking for my softball glove and not having much luck. A bunch of time passed so I told the kids we needed to go inside to bed and they went everywhere but inside. I started to pick up toys and then I heard Jack scream. He and Anna had collided at the base of the slide (a common occurrence that usually ends in laughter from both of them). All I saw was blood dripping from his chin and mouth. We rushed inside. After examination we couldn’t find the source of blood in the mouth but the chin looked like a puncture wound from either a heart shaped bubble wand or a plastic toy rake. Fortunately today that would also looked better.
.jpg) After all that I was hoping for a non injury day. As he was running around with his sippy cup in hand he ran over a sleeping bag, slipped on it and chin planted against his cup and the hard floor. Fortunately no blood or new injuries! However, he was happy to watch cartoons for the rest of the morning…in fact he fell asleep while watching Little Einsteins.
