It's been a while since we posted. With our use of social networks to communicate quickly with people, the additions to our site have begun to slack a bit. I'm going to try to remedy that with at least one weekly post.
My goal is to add a couple of neat stories about the kids, about Jess and I, and about life in general. I won't bore you with bullet point updates, but instead, I'll provide a little more in depth reading. In addition to providing weekly updates, it fulfills the selfish need to write.
With newer technologies, it's easy to get caught up in the quick email, the quick "txt", or even the quick twit (twitter). Some may call this the new reality, but I still see these services as a quick communication system. When I want to convey ideas, conventional and otherwise, it seems that our website is the most proper forum. On to the kids... It's interesting how the kids change from month to month. Just the other day, I was watching Anna play with some toys. I noted that before this time, she would just arrange them, or just push buttons, and then move on. This time, I saw the wheels turning. She would arrange the smaller pieces, but not necessarily in a straight line, but with purpose. The lion belongs in the cage and the monkey belongs in it's change. But it actually looked like she was imagining the lion and the monkey having a conversation. This is way off from her typical play. But it's nice to see the imagination growing. Aside from the imagination, her story telling is getting better everyday. Although the construct isn't the most coherent, Anna can tell you that: Daddy fall. Broke. Foot. Dr. Better? With only that, she has told the story of my broken foot and how it's getting better after seeing the doctor. I am intriqued by her chronological order of things. She even reminds me little things that I forgot. For example, she remembers that I sat down on the floor to put her coat on. And she (for the most part) remember's it in the right order. She amazes me. Jack and Anna have started to play togehter. They will wrestle on the couch, play in the sink, and generally share toys. Sometimes they don't share a stool, but they both can recogize that there are two stools in the house. If Anna's on one, Jack will sprint to grab the other one. It's fun to watch them pal around together. I have to mention Jack's development too. He has started to recognize that things belong to people. Daddy's boot, goes to daddy. If he needs his boot, I better get Daddy his shoe too. (Remember, I'm in a cast on one foot.) He's aware of what's around him and can even (sometimes) do what's asked. If he opens a door, you can ask him to close it and he will. He'll even find his stuffed puppy when he needs it. Thanks for reading.
