I know Labor Day weekend has come and gone already but since ours was so slow (hahahahaha) I’m just now getting to posting about it and adding pictures. The slow pace started Friday afternoon with Damion & I taking Anna to “QAQA’S!” while we took Jack to the ER.
He got his left hand caught between the door and drawer portion of the oven, which was on. The pediatrician’s office called me back about 3 minutes after I left the message, seems to be a record return call I think, and told us to take him there. He had major blisters on his fingers, his thumb was okay. We got a prescription salve and instructions to change the dressing at least twice a day or whenever it was dirty (well DUH). Damion has looked at them closely since that day and some have popped and sealed again and some had blisters under blisters (I didn’t know that was possible). Today several popped and it was the first day without any dressings on it. Saturday started by waking up at 6 am to get ready and packed to go with Adam & Nicole to Adam’s dad’s house . Now getting up at 6 am would not have been too bad if not for the fact that was when we watched “that stinky movie” and the “stink cleaning” movie and up with Jack until 3 am. The plan was for Damion & Adam to work on a bike Adam is getting so Adam could drive it home that night. Nicole and I played with the kids most of the day and tried to keep Jack’s dressing “clean”, which is hard to do in a farm setting. While there Anna & Jack both were the most comfortable they had been all summer long while swimming. Unfortunately the bike would not start so Adam had to ride home in the van with the rest of us. Sunday morning we got up again at 6 am to get ready and packed to go to Dawn’s new abode. Once again getting up at 6 am would not have been too bad if we hadn’t got home a bit before midnight and if Anna hadn’t fought going to sleep until 2:30 am. The only plan for the day was to spend it with Dawn since we hadn’t seen her since Memorial Day, which seems like forever ago. We ended up going to the Lincoln Park Zoo where Anna walked a lot and Jack sat taking in the scenery. The animal exhibit Anna seemed to like the most was the monkeys, excuse me the Primates as Damion tried to get me to teach her. Unfortunately no pictures were taken this day because we decided to just live in the moment. Sunday evening we got home around 10:30 and were greeted by my sister. It was a planned visit. On Monday we all just hung around the house and played with the kids and watched a Star Trek marathon, which Laura says has a cool intro music. Sure was a different pace than the previous days but was also a great opportunity to hear about Laura’s first week of collage. So, how was everybody else’s weekends? Aside from Joe being forced to go to a *gasp* music store in Madison…..silly that’s what you get for having a band teacher as a girlfriend. |
Written by Lori on 2008-09-03 05:41:19 Joe actually volunteered to come with to the music store....but quickly unvolunteered once we got in the door and he saw what he had gotten himself into -- so I bribed him with ice cream :) |
