It’s official.  After this last weekend we are on our way to becoming a family that bikes together .  Now I must say it wasn’t easy.

Damion’s bike has been slowly brought up to a commuter type bike.  My bike hasn’t been ridden since 2005.  On Saturday I got new hand grips, the only purchase required to bring the bike out of retirement.  The excitement started to mount as we, correction, Damion put on the new handle grips.  He WD-40’s the chain and gears and I take it for a test drive.  After the kids’ naps we load them into the bike trailer and everybody is ready to go when a problem is notice.  A tire on the trailer is flat, oh, and the plastic wheel is broken.  Trailer is not usable.  So we all dejectedly get ready to go shopping for new wheels and inner tubes.

Old Walmart, no wheels, no inner tubes, no new trailers.  Dick’s Sporting Goods, no wheels, no inner tubes, two trailer styles that look okay.  Meijer, nothing.  Toys R Us, one trailer style.  It’s now 9 pm, time for our Little Three Foot Wonder to go to bed.  Get dinner for the adults and off for home.  I did some googling to find reviews for what we had found.

Sunday morning we go to the early church service and continue our quest for a new trailer.  New Walmart had one style that didn’t convert to a stroller so we didn’t give it much more thought.  Farm & Fleet and Tractor Supply Company had nothing, we didn’t think they would but we were on that side of town. Off to Target where we bought one we thought was what we wanted.  Have lunch and naps for Anna while Damion and I put it together under Jack’s supervision.  All is together and the frame is bent.  Jack wakes up so he takes a test ride.  He doesn’t seem too comfortable and we are a bit unsure of a the frame situation.  While Jack & I nap Damion took it back to the store.  He returned home about an hour later with a beautiful trailer that is exactly what we wanted.  It was at the bike shops, which weren’t open when we were looking earlier.

We impatiently waited for the kids to wake up and when they did we were off.  We left around 5 pm for a nearby park (under a mile away).  We returned at 6:30 pm after biking almost 9 miles.  The kids were great.  Jack complained twice, once because he was hungry and needed a new diaper and the second time is a grouping of all cries because Anna took his toy/bottle/juice cup/hit him.  Anna complained once and that was because her snack pocket was empty.

After all that I realized I forgot something personal about the whole thing. Apparently my top tube is too short for me, wasn't a problem before. Does that mean I've gotten taller? If adjusting the stem doesn't work I do believe I might need a new bike next springish. :roll
