Sorry for the lack of updates recently but I have a nice little rant about why I haven't written much lately.

The middle of April I started going to the gym.  A bonus of this gym where we have our membership is that they have free child care.  Well, this “free” child care has now cost us, since April 17, four co-pays to see doctors and at least four rounds of antibiotics (2 for Damion, one for each kid).  It also costs me personally at least one to one and a half weeks away from the gym each round of sickness to take care of everybody.

Before this last round we (fyi - "we" is the kids and I) were last at the gym the middle of May.  Both kids and Damion ended up with cold like probs.  Damion saw the doctor and was told another sinus infection.  Since we had Memorial Day weekend plans, we didn’t return to the gym when all were better because I didn’t want to risk the kids being sick that weekend.

We went to the gym again the week of June 2.  We went on Tuesday and Thursday to Location 1 and Friday to Location 2 (my location of preference).  On that Friday I learned from a child care provider that because we were out for so long we missed a round of flu and pink eye!!!  Well, SHE WAS WRONG!!!!

On the 7th (Saturday) Anna started to get a runny nose.  I was denying she had it because I had said the next time they got sick we were canceling the membership (have I mentioned I really love two of the classes they offer).  For the entire day of the 9th Anna’s fever never went below 102 degrees Fahrenheit and peaked at 104 (sure was a nice way to spend my birthday).  Fortunately the kids had their well child check ups that day so the doctor prescribed some antibiotics for her.  Now Anna seems fine and loves getting her two teaspoons of amoxicillin twice a day.

THEN this past Friday afternoon/evening Jack’s eyes started to make eye boogers, have a runny nose & a fever.  We thought it weird but that night I remembered what Day Care Lady said “we had missed the round of pink eye”.  Did some research and I diagnosed him with pink eye.  Since eye boogers never presented when the doctor’s office or Prompt Care was open and I didn’t see this as an ER necessary problem we say our doctor Monday at 11 am.  Jack was diagnosed with a bacterial form of influenza.  Symptoms are fever, sore throat, runny nose.  He also had the boogery eyes and major chest congestion.  Apparently this form of influenza causes conjunctivitis.  Yup you read that right.   Now I’m trying to convince Jack to take his teaspoon of amoxicillin twice a day.

SO, now I’m 97% sure we are done with this gym.  We have talked about the possibility of my not going to Location 2 ever with the kids and see if Location 1 has fewer problems.  I understand the logic behind it because this location seems to have less kid traffic so one would think our chances would decline of getting sick again…..BUT the parent/wife part of me doesn’t want to watch my kids and hubby suffer through another round of sicknesses.

Alright.  I’m done.  For now.  May be only because I’m ready for my round of Nyquil, which helps my Mommy DNA fight whatever it is that is attacking me now.
