it took a total of about 12 hours to completely remove the rear leaf springs and hangers from two trucks, then reinstall the springs and hanger onto my truck. A big thanks goes out to Jess (for being a trooper and a good sport about the whole thing), my brother (for the shop, the parts, and the labor!), Adam (thanks for he 6'er, the labor, and genral hanging out...), and Nicole (for bringing food for all of us, woo hoo food!). Now for the pictures... but, you'll have to hit the "read more" link...
Okay, for real, the pictures... This is one example of the hanger that broke. There are four on the truck (two per side), and two looked like this, while one was still mostly there but with holes and missing pieces. I took two, so that you can tell where everything is in relation to the vehicle...

The next one is of what a good, factory hanger looks like. The was the one good one on the truck. I replaced it anyway...

You can see, here, the springs that I removed. Note the broken ones... yeah, they were on the truck. Not doing any good.

Now, I'm halfway through cutting off one of the hold brackets. I needed to grind down the rivet heads, and with great force, pop out the back of them through the frame.

To attache the new to my truck springs to the axle, I had to install new U-bolts. These are 3" wide, and 8" long. They were torqued down to "that's tight enough".

In the process of installing the springs and hangers. These things have alot of tension when installed, so we had to put a lot of tension on the to get them installed... On the other side, we took the tire off and dropped the axle. Experience from the first side, made the second a lot easier!

And now the brackets and springs are all installed. Looks the same except for the bolts instead of rivets!
