I was so intent on working on the problem that I forgot to get pictures of the one side, before I removed everything. I'll try to get pictures today. Here's the story... I was driving to work and I hear a "thud". The truck starts pulling to the left. I pull over, thinking it's a blown tire, and I check all around the truck. The tires are fine, but the bed is "listing" to one side. I crawled under the truck and see that the leaf spring hanger is broken. Horribly broken. As it turns out, three of them were broken. Once I got the truck to my brothers shop (a shop, a real shop! Who knew?), further inspection revealed broken leaf springs, three broken spring hangers and two broken shackles. I got lucky that no one (including myself) got hurt. Turns out that my brother has a "donor truck" in the shop... hangers, shackles, and springs. Crazy? Yes. So, it's just a simple matter of moving them from one truck to the other. But, not really. Ford actually rivets the hangers to the frame... so there's grinding and pounding and all that. I spent a little over two hours working on the one side, and I got most of the brackets off and the springs out. Hopefully I'll make it quite a bit farther today... I'll try to remember to take pictures!
