Welcome to damionandjess.com!

We are making configuration changes to the website over the next couple of weeks.  If something doesn't work, or images don't appear, we are working on it.  Thanks for being patient!

Good day to everyone.

I was taking a break at work yesterday and I decided to go looking for anyone that had been inspired like I have been the past few months.  Some of you may know that I run a small consulting company on the side.  Recently, talk has begun of dedicating a certain number of hours a week, around 8 to 10,  to one of my clients.  The company has done projects for them in the past and we have worked well with them with only after normal business hours communication.  My point...

During the most recent of those projects, a website redesign and implementation, I came to the conclusion that I can't work out of the house.  There are just too many things that I would rather be doing.  First off, I'd much rather play with the kids and spend time with Jess than sit in my shared office (maybe Jess could throw a picture in later of it) and work. So that leads to needing a place outside the house to work.

I was inspired by the idea of building a shed, and it looking like a shed on the outside.  One the inside, it would be a high tech office for one!  With a little browsing on the Internet, I found someone who had the same idea!  He built a project site with pictures and a video

I'm going to build one of these.  Similar, but not exactly the same.  It will have my own design.  The city I live in has some limitiations (I don't want to have to get a permit to build it) that sets the max size to 144 sq ft, and 12 ft high.  So, I need to work in that limitation.  The only questions now are how to strap it to the ground (slab, footings, or what?  Remember, NO PERMIT!), how to supply power so that it's not a taxable building (outside box with a 2 ft locking extension cord, maybe?), and then how much will it cost.

It's a big project.  I've even toyed with the idea of building it in such a way that I can plant grass on the roof!  I know, that's a pipe dream, but wouldn't that be really neat?  Comment away... I can handle it.
