Welcome to damionandjess.com!

We are making configuration changes to the website over the next couple of weeks.  If something doesn't work, or images don't appear, we are working on it.  Thanks for being patient!

Damion's Dithyrambs
The various things that rattle around in my head occasionally need to be written down, or in this case, typed out. Since I'm typing them out anyway, you might as well have the option of commenting on them... right?
And you know you want to look it up.

Those of you who visit regularly have seen the most recent kitchen pictures, and you have read about the injury that I provoke frequently.  Seldom does it ever get incapacitating, but as the medication I'm on informs me...  this time it was.  It happened. While stabilizing a 2x4 to be cut with a reciprocating saw.  As I was cutting, my back said "I'm done.  No more for me!".  It's pretty common for me to push through the limits of what I can do physically.  So I did.  Sunday rolled around, and I had completed my goal.  The half wall was ready for mud and paint.  I, however, was in need of some serious back relief.

Enter one doctor, a Rx pad, and the new local Walgreens!  I missed three days of work, but I also slept for almost all of those three days.  It was a good relaxing sleep.  I'm still not 100%, but I put it at 85%.  We'll see what the rest of the week brings.

I think I've learnd something from this.  I can push as hard as I want and my doctor will help me out in the end.  No, not really.  The doc did however tell me what I did wrong when trying things that used to help.  There is a big difference between dry heat and moist heat.  Dry heat is surface only.  Feels good on the outside, but for mulscles that can't untighten, it's horrible.  It expands blood vessels which increases blood flow to the area and causes more pain.  Grr.  I need a hot tub!

Moist heat works through the muscle and causes it to relax.  This explains why five minutes in a hot tub, or really even a heated pool, can relieve most (if not all) of my back pain.  Oh well.  Maybe I can build a hot tub?  It can't be that hard...

You may have read in "From Jess" (link to posting) that I told her to use Internet Explorer to update her page.  While this is true there were some interesting circumstances:

1:  I was doing homework and was trying to figure out her frustration so I could get back to my homework.

2: Firefox has some security settings that limit access to and from the clipboard on a computer.

3: When pasting into the editor we have on the back end from Microsoft Word, there is a special button to use that cleans up all of Word's stupid css style crap.  I may have forgotten to tell her about this button and that may have lead to the problems she was having.

4:  I fixed the columns really fast.

Cheers.

The idea of a PBX for my house seemed a bit excessive.  I thought that my Vonage line was just fine and I didn't need any more that that.  That's not the case.  Those of you who know me, understand my need to "fine tune" things to get them to work the way I want them to.  Okay, okay...  I'm a control freak.  I get it.

The Asterisk server is the ultimate of control for VoIP at home or in business.  The server is self is fairly simple to install.  In fact, one disc and it's done!  After that is the setup of outbound and inbound dialing.  More on that as time permits.

Oh yeah, Jess has been bugging me to convert her page over to this format.  I suppose I will have to do that tonight after we get back from the Gym, huh?

Occasionally, I have felt the need to publish thoughts about various topics.  Those thoughts have often gone unnoticed and under the radar.  I've decided that I'm going to try to get those thoughts out in public a little more often.

This is the new section for me!  The About Damion is gone, obliterated.  (Not really, just not published.)

As time permits, there will be more frequent updates to my blogs.  I will try to begin catagorizing things as well.  For now, though, all items will just be general comments about things.

I'll also look into allowing comments on items as well, but you wil have to register for that.  Sorry all you spammers, but I don't feel bad for you.
