In case you don't read comments (shame on you!) you have missed out on a suggestion, and two seconds on that thought, regarding a scrapbook night each month. The thought, as I stated, was two poker nights equal one mom's night out plus a scrapbook night.....trust me, the math works, its married math we're doing with here, which is actually a lot easier to follow than pregnant math  So, my question to the public that would be willing/wanting to attend, is there a particular day that works better than another for everybody? I figured if I make it a posting versus an email, all you closet scrapbookers will respond and not be left out. Also, I did try to upload some pictures of the kids tonight, but there was a slight issue and unfortunately my site administrator is in AZ with a two hour time difference and didn't get my IM about the problem because he was at dinner. He said he'd try to look at it tonight so maybe, just maybe, tomorrow night you'll be blessed with pictures of our children....off to watch the season finale of Battlestar Galactica season 3 before the new season starts next week. A few of you have expressed interest in a bi-weekly poker night. Adam and I have been forming the plans and have come up with the following... Poker nights will be on the Second and Fourth Tuesday Monday of every month. The only catch is that it may change if that's when Jess' moms night out time is. Anyone object at this point? The first night will be at my house (maps and diections will be make available in a less public media). We'll setup camp in the garage, with a card table (Hey Jess, can I buy one?) and Adam's poker top. Drinks are bring your own, and water will be provided. Also, a dog will be made available to like your face if you fall on the floor. We'll probably sit anywhere between four and eight people for the first game night... Comments? Joe, Laura, and Lori came to see us for a day or so... As usual, this made Jess and I happy. We like them the're good peoples. So they played with the kids, and talked, and watched basketball. Go Belmont! (Wait, who's Belmont?)... Regardless, the kids were asleep (including Joe) so "The Girls (minus Anna)" decided to have some fun...

Hi everyone. I received an invite to a social network site called Plaxo Pulse. It reminded me that I was considering the possibility of signing up for Face Book. So, clicky clicky, off I go to facebook.com to check it out. I'm reading the terms of service, a dull read to be sure, but it's required (at least by me).
This is were the rant started. In the Face Book ToS, there is a section that describes rights that the user and Face Book have to various things such has images and content. Of course, Face Book has the rights to their stuff, and you have the rights to your stuff. But did you know that ANYTHING you put into Face Book, they own too. You grant them a non-exclusive right to do with it anything they want, even after you close your account. User beware...
This type of information is crucial for people like me. I have hobbies that produce a product. I'm a amateur photographer. So, according to the ToS at Face Book, if I post one of my photos, then they have full rights to it. I don't agree with that, and because of it, I can't use their service.
I'm fairly convinced that if everyone read their Privacy Agreements, Terms of Service, and/or End User License Agreement, they would run screaming. Those documents are some scary stuff. The worst part, is that if you do agree to it, there is probably a clause that states they can change it at any time, and that you agree to those changes. All of a sudden, you're screwed. Enjoy.
As you can tell, I do bite the bullet and subscribe to things anyway. I use Bloglines, GoDaddy, and some various instant messaging programs. I also use Google Apps quite a bit.

Greetings from the guy writing code... and sadly, it's not being written in an office shed yet. I hope you like the direction we're going with the site layout. To be more exact, the direction I'm going. Jess will have to comment on her thought (and she will) later. There are some upgrades in the works. Joomla has release a couple of patches that I will apply this week. All in preparation for the upgrade to 1.5, the latest and greatest version of Joomla (actually 1.5.1 is the newest, but who's counting)! That probably won't happen this month. I've got to get the test site setup, do the upgrade, and then test everything. Only when that succeds will I upgrade the site that you see. Remember, safety second... The idea behind the layout change is that we were a little dated with our "fixed width" that was setup for the old 800x600 monitors of yester-year (2000)? So, I've changed that to a variable width that will flex with the 800x600 and the 1920x1600 that "some people" have. Additionally, the template used with Joomla is now all CSS (no tables). The code generated by Joomla probably isn't though. So, you'll still see some tables out there. The last thing is that I just want us to have a new look and feel. Keep people on there toes, huh? I've put up a poll to see if we get any responses for the new layout, but please keep in mind that it is not finished. Only the structure is here. The icing and sprinkles will show up later... Really, where am I going with this? I don't know... it doesn't help Jess have time to get pictures of the kids up, does it? Write Comment (1 Comments) |
