Believe me, it's not what you think.  I'm the engine!  I dropped my bicycle off at the shop for a view lateral-grades (not up or down, but more of a repurpose).  The bike is a Trek 4500 from about four years ago.  It could be five, but I'd have to ask Jess to pull it up in the databse... anywho, it's being retasked as a commuter bike.  Here's how it went down.

In my pick'em up truck (1994 Ford v8 5.0 extended cab) I get roughly 10 to 11 miles per gallon on standard 87 octane.   Ugh.  First let me state that I'm not a hippe.  I'm not a tree hugger, unless I've got a climbing harness, someone on belay and I need to use that tree to get to the next handhold on the rock.  I'm not even into the "green" I.T. movement (although, I see it's merits).  But, I've decided that I want a raise.  And I'm willing to work for it.  I'm using my bike to get to and from work and save about $100 / month in fuel costs.  It's a nice little raise.

The knobby tires are replaced with street tires.  There's a rack on the back and I have a nice set of saddle bags paniers. (The name changes in the bike world.)   I've got a small tool kit, small air pump, and I'll have a replacement tube when I pick it up from the shop tomorrow.  So, Wednesday (oddly, the same day that I get my rotor puller for the motorcycle), I should be headed out for my first bike ride to work.

Happy Mommy's Day to all you moms out there!

Yesterday, Anna, Laura and I participated in the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure .  It was a cool morning which made it a nice day for a walk.  While we were there Jack was at home with Damion and my mom looking all sorts of cute.  I am happy to report that I am timely making pictures available for your viewing pleasure.

I know.  i'm a bad person.  I've had the motorcycle for over a week, and I still haven't put any pictures up.  Well... how about an update?

There was some sort of white powerdery build up in the "gas valve" and  that was preventing fuel flow to the engine.  Once I got that cleaned out, fuel flowed freely!  A couple of other little things, tightening bolts, tensioning the drive chan, and installing a new battery are all that's left.  Oh yeah, and swapping the engine for my other one.

Tonight is poker at Rob's, tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday are musical stuff for Rebecca, and then Jess' mom and sister are here for the weekend.  So, it's a busy week.  I really do want to put pictures up, but I'll  make no promises this time.

Pictures of the kids have been posted.  Do I need to say anything else?

The "new" pictures are Jack eating, Anna on the patio, Anna sitting on Damion, Anna & a 2 way radio, the kids outside, and hat day .  Enjoy!

My Dad come by Sunday with a 1980 Yamaha 650 (not an '84 as previously mentioned).  It's too bad that I was sick all weekend and could barely kick the stinking thing over.  Anywho... Hopefully I'll be up to speed on Wednesday (I didn't go to work on Monday, now my days are all off).   Then I'll start tinkering with it to get it going.  Shouldn't be to bad.  Dad said he had it running on Saturday to load it up.

Sorry for no pictures.  Maybe tonight, if I'm concious or Jess is feeling nice enough.
