Today was the day we had been waiting 5 weeks for.  Unfortunately we didn’t get quite the news we were expecting.  

 

The not so humorous nurse cut off Damion’s cast revealing little specks on Damion’s foot/lower leg and some really dirty toes (man can not apparently clean toes on diaper wipes alone).  Off he went to x-ray and returned requesting wet paper towels to clean his foot. 

Junior doctor (aka Jeff) felt Damion’s foot and spoke with us a bit and said that the foot was still broken.  He left and we waited for the ortho doctor.  He showed us the x-rays taken today and honestly it didn’t look any different than the ER x-rays but he said it was starting to heal.  All we saw was a small grayish area but it wasn’t white like a full bone is.  After some discussion Damion was given a walking boot (or as Stacey the fun nurse called it, “a moon boot”) and told to wean off the crutches over the next week.  (I guess nobody would be to surprised to learn he used them walking out of the doctors office and hasn’t used them yet, right?!?!).  Next visit would be in 5 weeks with x-rays again.  After some looking back on the conversation the doctor didn’t really seem to have a plan about what would happen then if there was no improvement and seemed a bit caught off guard when Damion asked if pins would be needed.

Since this visit didn’t go quite as planned we went to Starbucks even though Nana requested earlier in the day we come straight home from the visit.  See we knew that she likely wouldn’t mind too much since we brought her a drink too.  While talking with her we started to toss around the idea of a second opinion from the doctor we originally wanted to see but couldn’t because he was on vacation.  We’ll see what this weekend brings with it before making that final decision, but don’t worry; we’ll try to keep you all in the look.

It's been a while since we posted.  With our use of social networks to communicate quickly with people, the additions to our site have begun to slack a bit.  I'm going to try to remedy that with at least one weekly post.

My goal is to add a couple of neat stories about the kids, about Jess and I, and about life in general.  I won't bore you with bullet point updates, but instead, I'll provide a little more in depth reading. In addition to providing weekly updates, it fulfills the selfish need to write. 

Saturday was a beautiful day but it was spent finding a new tv stand, one that would slow the kids down when they wanted to mess with all our components.  Sunday was a blah day outside and inside.  Today (Monday)  was a blah like morning but after naps the kids and I stepped outside to get the mail.  After a quick look at the backyard we returned inside for new diapers and out we went again.  An hour later we were on our way back inside a bit dirtier than when we left.  Anna & I just had a couple of dirty spots on our pants.  Jack had a dirty face, hands, pants, shoes, sock, & shirt, oh and the shirt was wet too.  Might sound silly but he looked like a little boy who had just had a blast outside.  Yes, of course there are pictures of the kids enjoying the fake spring day.

In Damion news, well, his foot isn’t as colorful as it has been.  He is still in pain but I don’t think its as bad as it was.  He doesn’t complain about pain in general so the only thing I have to base this on is that he’s taking over the counter pain meds and not the prescription meds.  He has successfully made it through week one of five with his cast and he says he’s ready for it to come off now.   Since some people get queasy with certain injury pictures I have created an album in the gallery that shows Damion’s foot’s progress if you guys are interested.

Okay, I know I usually make linky links for you to click to take you to the galleries I speak of but tonight that isn't working too well and I don't want to trouble shoot anything.  It's almost midnight.  I just want to go to bed.  Sorry, but that's just the way this cookie has crumbled tonight......Cookies?!  C is for Oreo....hehehe.  OH!  It's good to be me!  Night all!
