An issue was brought to my attention that I already knew about. There were a couple of albums in the gallery that did not have pictures in them. Here’s the deal. My puter wasn’t allowing me to upload pictures. And when I say it was my puter I mean it was my puter and not user error. After Damion deleted my IE cookies (anybody for a Cookie Monster “Delete Cookies!!” flair here?) all seems to be working again. And the problem was with an update that my computer just does without me telling it to do it!
Damion is slowly healing. He is working at getting his bicycle ready so he can ride it to work again. He is also working on several projects around the house, with Anna’s assistance and approval of course.
I am trying to get my scrapbook stuff organized for a weekend of working at catching up. I’m having to start at the kids’ birthday party and work my way forward. Gosh we are busy people when you try to scrapbook the highlights.
Anna is testing her boundaries and talking in fuller sentences. Some of her favorites phrases are “one more thing”, “Jackie buddy” (FYI she is the only person who gets to call Jack Jackie”, “wait guys”. After the last rain store she was all excited because she thought I stopped the rain. I told her I didn’t. Then she got excited because that meant Damion stopped the rain. Damion told her he did not stop the rain but that God did. So now she thinks that she stopped the rain and “Gog” helped. While a bit flawed it’s a good start, right?
Jack is starting to realize that he has the ability to grab Anna’s hair or shirt and get a reaction from her. He is attempting to grab her shirt more and move her out of the way. He is working on his verbal skills. The words he utters the most seem to be “thank you”, “uh oh”, and “door”. The phrases he recognizes the quickest involve leaving the house. “Jack, let’s go bye bye” translates into drop everything and run to garage door. “Jack, wanna play outside” translates into drop everything and run to open the patio door.
Ah, the patio door, which we are looking at replacing. Why? Well, Anna & Jack can now both open it themselves. So if you visit and you can’t find them in the house they are likely left the house and are in the backyard blowing bubbles and playing on their new playset. Yup we finally got them a new playset.
We took delivery of the playset pieces Mother’s Day weekend and the kids were playing on it a week later. Not too bad I think considering most of that time period we were under thunderstorm warnings/watches, tornado warnings/watches and flood warnings/watches. One of Damion’s co-workers came on night to help get it started and a couple hours later there was a deckles tower. Last Saturday Damion and I worked on it for almost 2.5 hours while the kids slept. We started around 1 pm and by 6:30 pm we had a completed play set.
Pictures? Oh we got bunches of them. A couple of albums to end Aprils and some to start May. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

So if you haven't talked with us in you will be surprised by this news. The end of last week Damion was in the DC area for business. As usual he had time to hang out with Jeff & Jaime and later Rob. On Saturday Damion was four wheeling with Jeff and others when he was involved in an accident. It required an ambulance ride to a trauma center where he ended up spending the night. He has a fractured left scapula and a bruised lung and road rash all over. He was not allowed to fly yesterday so he came home tonight. Tomorrow we get to see the ortho again but for a new injury. If you interested there are pictures of him and his owies. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

A couple of nights ago I wrote this nice long post to share but haven't gotten around to putting it up. So, here's the summary.....
Damion had his doctor's appointment on April 9th. The bone is 60-70% healed. He has a special ortho boot/shoe thing he can wear. But he got clearance for hard sole shoes (ie dress shoes, bike shoes). Another appointment in 5 weeks.
That same day we started to the mall around 10:30 am to return Anna's Easter outfit and get one she couldn't destroy as easily. Long story short, we didn't get to the mall until dinner time. We went to the Honda dealership and test drove a 2004 Honda Odyssey. We've been talking about minivans for the past three years and the Odyssey since the fall. Well Friday morning we traded in the Jeep for the Odyssey.
That evening we packed it up to go to "gramma's grampa's house" (Anna was a bunch bits of excited about the trip.) for Easter weekend. Thanks to the generosity of my mom, my sister, my bro & Lori, Damion and I had a date afternoon, which was fun.
There are pictures up in the gallery from the weekend and from today. Damion is currently on a business trip so the kids and I spent most of the afternoon at various parks and I took the camera out since we were in our backyard and they couldn't tumble 10 feet to the ground. No update since March 7? No pictures of activities in March? It’s March 29th! I’m such a slacker……okay after a second of thinking about it I’m not a slacker, just a busy person. The beginning started fairly normal. See a doctor about Damion’s foot and play phone tag with the nurse to discuss the diagnosis a bit more. Repair the broken drier (thank you Handy Man Damion for keeping it under $50). Buy a new grill. Watch the kids play with the two horseys we found on the curb. Play outside with the kids in weather that was maybe a bit too cold some days to be outside and also on gorgeous spring days. The middle was the challenge. Our friend Adam’s mom was hospitalized and had several procedures done, TO HER BRAIN. Since she was in ICE her grandson (Connor, 15 mths) couldn’t be there. So Keri, Connor’s mom, accepted our offer to watch Connor. Needless to say it was interesting having three kids until 3 in our house. During that time Jack seemed to work hard at increasing his vocabulary and Anna was the gracious host full of hugs for Connor. Fortunately all three got along well. Momma is doing better and has been home for a week, which happens to be how long Connor has been back with his mom. The end is still being written. More playing outside as weather allows, what’s with the forecast of snow? Damion threw up his hands at repairing his truck at thanks to his brother now has a Volvo 960. I spent yesterday at Traffic School (43 mph in a 30 mph, honestly I thought it was a 35 mph). Yesterday Jack also got his first haircut. Today I also uploaded a ton of pictures for everybody with more details about the little things over the month. Enjoy! Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Today was the day we had been waiting 5 weeks for. Unfortunately we didn’t get quite the news we were expecting.
The not so humorous nurse cut off Damion’s cast revealing little specks on Damion’s foot/lower leg and some really dirty toes (man can not apparently clean toes on diaper wipes alone). Off he went to x-ray and returned requesting wet paper towels to clean his foot. Junior doctor (aka Jeff) felt Damion’s foot and spoke with us a bit and said that the foot was still broken. He left and we waited for the ortho doctor. He showed us the x-rays taken today and honestly it didn’t look any different than the ER x-rays but he said it was starting to heal. All we saw was a small grayish area but it wasn’t white like a full bone is. After some discussion Damion was given a walking boot (or as Stacey the fun nurse called it, “a moon boot”) and told to wean off the crutches over the next week. (I guess nobody would be to surprised to learn he used them walking out of the doctors office and hasn’t used them yet, right?!?!). Next visit would be in 5 weeks with x-rays again. After some looking back on the conversation the doctor didn’t really seem to have a plan about what would happen then if there was no improvement and seemed a bit caught off guard when Damion asked if pins would be needed.
Since this visit didn’t go quite as planned we went to Starbucks even though Nana requested earlier in the day we come straight home from the visit. See we knew that she likely wouldn’t mind too much since we brought her a drink too. While talking with her we started to toss around the idea of a second opinion from the doctor we originally wanted to see but couldn’t because he was on vacation. We’ll see what this weekend brings with it before making that final decision, but don’t worry; we’ll try to keep you all in the look. Write Comment (0 Comments) |
