February 9 marked Anna’s two month birthday. We celebrated by taking her to the doctor’s office for her well child check up. She weighed 11 lbs 10 oz and measured 23 ½ inches long. She also received 5 immunizations. One was given orally. She did not like that at all. When I asked the nurses if it was flavored they advised it had sugar in it but it was not flavored. Sure wish it was cherry flavored because the week before Anna took flavored decongestant without any problems. Since she was soo happy about the oral medicine she was thrilled to get the four shots (two in each thigh). No major reactions to the shots but she did run a mild fever over the weekend. All is well with her now and she is back to her normal smiley, talkative self. She is also thinking about rolling over. She can get to her side but stops there and gets distracted by the blanket her head usually rests on. Anna also has a tendency to reject or spit out her pacifier/plug/cork to suck on her thumb and first finger knuckles. This causes one slobbery right hand. This weekend I learned that she enjoys watching college basketball. I think it is mainly because of the vibrant colors and constant sounds of the announcers and crowds. She also enjoyed the Ultimate Factories – John Deere that was on the Discovery Channel recently. She laughed and talked every time there was a big green item on the TV screen, which was frequently. Please note that there are new pictures of Anna in her album. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

Sometime between 3 am and 7 am Tuesday morning Anna's umbilical cord stump fell off to reveal her belly button! Now I was a wee bit tired at 7 am but was determined to find the remaining piece that fell off because it was interesting looking at it on her and I wanted to look at it closer but I couldn't find it. Not under/in her onesie. Not in the diaper I was taking off. Not in her bed, on the floor or on the changing table. It was gone. I mentioned this to Damion when he came into her room and he said the belly button fairy toom it. Kid you not, he said the belly button fairy. When it was returned to us around three that afternoon. I must say it was a bit disappointing. It was basically like a rock hard raisin. The next recent (as in yesterday) development is that Anna, Damion and I are the victims of colic. Per Anna's very patient pediatrician the cause is unknown. No known treatment for it except to take car rides and swaddle her. Basically grin and bear it for 3 to 4 months. Her periods of screaming over the last two weeks have been between 9 pm and midnight. So, our one request is that people not ask to much of me before 10 am sny day of the week and Damion on the weekends. But you may get more updates from me that would be time stamped 12:48 am, like this one would be, since I'm awaiting confirmation she is actually asleep and not taking a break from screaming. I am excited though because it is now Friday and tonight is Damion's turn. As I'm teaching Anna, "Yeah Daddy." BTW - sorry for any grammarical errors, but it is almost 1 in the morning and I sm not in the mood to spell check or proof read. Write Comment (0 Comments) |

It has been over a month since our last post here at damionandjess.com and the
lack of posting is not due to a lack of things to write about but more so due
to a lack of energy to write about them.
All three of us are doing well. Anna is growing and, according to her
doctor at her last visit in December she is "average" at 8 lbs 3 oz
and already 20 inches long. Based on the way her clothes are fitting, or
not fitting, she is longer than 20 inches now. For those who may be
interested, there is a new album under Anna's name that has several pictures
from December for you to view if you wish.
Since her birth we have only left Anna with a babysitter twice.

I know that you haven't heard from me in a while. I've been a bit busy with the new job and all. However, Jess is currently in no real position to post this piece of news, so it falls to me! Jess is having the kid! We are at the hospital... waiting. She's in labor (or should I say LLLLLAAAAAABBBBBOOOOORRRRRRR). I guess all depends on who you ask. My hand hurts a little bit.... Thanks to Ben (my support) and Amy (Jess' support) for hanging out with us at the hospital and all the support they have provided over the past months! Anywho, things are progressing. A little slow, but I think it'll pick up. More later if I can. Thanks for reading! Write Comment (1 Comments) |
